Marrakech Medina · Kaat Benahid
A well-kept secret, at the end of the derb.
Three rooms and two suites around a patio with two bhous and its fountain, a few steps from the Medersa Ben Youssef — step through the door and the clamour falls away, leaving only the murmur of water.
The house
A riad that reveals itself
like a well-kept secret.
It is only after threading the lively lanes of the Kaat Benahid souks — one of the oldest quarters of the Medina — that Riad Azzouna 13 reveals itself, a few steps from the Medersa Ben Youssef. Once through the door the clamour falls away: all that remains is the murmur of the fountain, birdsong, and light playing across the tadelakt walls.
Restored in the purest Moroccan tradition, the riad is a celebration of artisanal heritage — carved stucco, original wrought iron, lustrous tadelakt. Three rooms and two suites, each with its own character, offer refined comfort without excess: here, it is the architecture that has the last word.

Rooms & suites

each with its own character.
Carved stucco, tadelakt, original wrought iron — five ways of living in the same secret, from the patio to the gallery.
Table & services
The life of the house, to the patio's rhythm.
Family-style Moroccan cooking, local and homemade, prepared to order. On cooler evenings the fireplace-warmed salon takes over for intimate dinners; by day, you linger around the fountain with a book or a glass of mint tea.
In the evening the table is set by candlelight —
before the fireplace, or beneath the stars.
The bhou, the summer lounge
The hammam, an age-old ritual
Above, the sky; below, the half-light.
Up on the roofs, a sprawling terrace unfolds across several spaces — loungers, shaded pergolas, a dining corner beneath the stars, with the Koutoubia and the peaks of the Atlas gilded by the setting sun. Below, a traditional hammam within the riad keeps an age-old ritual alive; massages and treatments on request.

The collection
Chez Sophie, houses to live in.
In 1995, Sophie Raynal, then an architecture student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, fell in love with Morocco during a trip to Marrakech. She undertook the renovation of several houses in Marrakech, Oualidia and Tangier, guided by a demand for authenticity — a true aesthetic vision.
Sophie is no longer with us, but she passed on to her family and her team the values born of her sensitivity and her humanism. All of this, you will feel during your visit.
